Entry 12: Camera Whore... Sentosa...

lately i feel that i am becoming much of a cam whore...

then a quick check with urban dictionary informs me that i am mis-using the word...

u see...
cam whore only refers to people who take photos or pose for photos excessively...
so people like me...
who likes to take a lot of photos do not qualify...

i am merely a cam slave at best...

but this is getting alarming...
lately whenever i see things...
or places i go...
i would think to myself...
maybe i should take a photo of that...

this is what exactly happened yesterday...
early in the morning at about 7...

before that let's get to what was i doing...
why a bum like me is up at 7am...

u see...
lately i made a digital purchase for the game Aion...
and to download the game, u would have to use its own download launcher...
problem is...
everytime that the internet connection is disrupted for whatever reasons...
the download would not resume but start from scratch again...

this was exactly what happened to me the first time i tried downloading the game...
i left it to download through the night...
only to wake up to see it was at 5% again...

and i told myself i would not let this happen again...
so i decided to monitor the download personally...
initially...
the projected time to finish downloading was about 2am...
and i thought that was quite ok...
turns out...
after some patchy connection at night time...
and a 1 GB patch that u have to download after installing the game...
everything wraps up at about 9am...

at about 7am...
i was at the kitchen...
probably making myself some coffee or something...
honestly i cannot really remember...
and i noticed that the room is abnormally dark...
while the outside is glowing in a funny yellow...
so i looked out the window and this is what i saw...

the photo did no justice to how beautiful the sky looked...
underneath the gloomy layer of dark clouds...
there was a warm, golden glow below...
sharp contrast from the top...
2 separate layers...
my words...
like the photo are not doing justice to the sky...

it was stunning~!...

later that day i went to Sentosa with my friend...
the idea was to soak up the sun and maybe swim a little...

that is when i found out...
they managed to invest $6.8billion for the resort world...
but the beach looks so dirty...
the sand is lined with junks and seaweeds...

this is probably the only spot around that is clean...

maybe they should consider investing some money on cleaning the beach...
dirty is one thing...
but when even ur beach looks so dirty...
that says a lot...

maybe the idea is to keep people in the resort world so that they won't venture to the beaches on the other end...

then again my friend brought up a very good question...
with the resort world...
would the entrance fee increase drastically?...
if so would people still go to Sentosa just for the beach?...

by the way...
we saw a Baywatch impersonalle...
a body of well-defined muscles...
bright red shorts...
all that was lacking was the yellow thing they strap around their backs...

Entry 11: Resort World Sentosa... Liberation...

went for a career talk organised by the Resort World Sentosa over at NTU...

career-wise...
there is nothing much...

seriously...
why would they want to hire undergrads as bellman, waitors, theme park crew...
and graduates as croupiers and excorts?...
hm...
i guess they really need intelligent people at the lower levels to make the whole place more intelligent...
and create a great experience for all the tourist...

in case u are wondering...
a croupier is the person whole handle chips and deal at the gambling tables...
according to wikipedia...
the term is used in favour of dealer because dealer kind of implies a card game...
but basically they are the same thing...

hi there i am ur croupier for the day...
don't worry...
i am currently an undergrad at NTU...
so i know my maths...

hi...
i am pursuing my degree at NTU...
and to fund my studies...
i have to do hard labour job like carry ur luggage to ur room...

now talk about service...

still...
the HR person was lively in an otherwise solemn lecture threatre...
i guess everyone was just trying to be serious hoping for some good career prospects...

not to fret people...
there must be success stories around where a person worked his way up from a lowly croupier to become the CEO of a casino...

do let me know if that has ever happened...

and the HR person did mention alot of interesting things...

such as...

how they are trying to conserve nature by imprisoning marine lives in one of the biggest aquariums in the world...
about 30 times the size of an Olympic-size swimming pool...

and how the shopping and dining at the Resort World would be its centre-piece...
because it is located in the center...

not forgetting that the animated cranes there...
would be...
in English...
giant mechanical cranes...
now i guess mechanical is a much easier word than animated...

what i did get from the talk was that Resort World seems to be an exciting place...
i guess they it right promoting the place...
if only this is not a career talk...
and i did not fill up their registration form in hopes...
and i did not bother to bring along copies of resumes in hopes...

and they have a T-rex too...
come on...
anything with a T-rex is cool...
just refer to How I Met Your Mother Season 4 episode 8...
how Barney Stinson got won over to betray Ted by a building in the shape of a T-rex that can even breath fire out of its mouth...

an interesting food for thought...
during a train ride with a friend...
we were talking about researching for people's good and what not...
and we joked about going to North Korea
disarm all the nuclear weapons and bring peace to the region...

i have liberated my people (with disarmament and overthrowing the dictatorship) by enslaving them to minimal-wage jobs over at our Southern neighbours...

sure that would be good for a Nobel Peace Prize...

but as my friend duly pointed out...
they are already slaves under the dictatorship...

hm...
slaves of ur own country...
or slaves of someone else's country...

now that is a hard choice...
