ok i simply cannot resist it...
a couple of days ago...
i spent the whole of my night to get my Windows 7 up and running...
but in the end did not have time to really test it...
though initial impressions have really blown me away...
but today...
i am truly impressed...
finally i have the time to run some applications and see how it is better than Vista...
now before anything...
i am not a very good computer guy...
and what i did was not any stress test or what...
i simple did to it what i normally do with my com...
Vista looks pretty...
and probably only just slightly less pretty than Windows 7...
Aero had me at hello...
but the rest of the package...
i am not so sure...
i always feel that though i am running a supposedly better system than XP...
it is slower...
and there seems to be alot of background stuff going on...
and i do not think my com is infected...
i have gone through 3 phases with Vista...
1GB ram on old com...
2GB ram on my current com...
then 4 GB ram on my current com...
the really big jump was from 1GB to 2GB...
where the difference in performance is plain obvious...
from 2GB to 4GB...
i would say pretty subtle...
in fact even after a fresh format...
i still feel that i don't feel 2GB ram faster...
and at one point i asked if i have wasted money investing in that 2GB of ram...
i have read some comments about how Vista cannot utilise 4GB ram fully and what not...
as i said i am not a good com guy so probably i cannot get all the technicalities...
but like all consumers...
one thing i am sure...
it is slow...
so onto Windows 7 with the same configurations...
and it is just a no contest...
everything is so smooth...
transferring of files...
i used to have to wait like 5 seconds when i right click on an icon...
now that is gone...
and most impressive to me...
is the alt-tab thingy...
with Vista...
alt-tab in-game or while running programs can make u feel like u crash and hang ur com...
u have to wait ages before the switch is completed...
and even then everything seems laggy...
Windows 7 has no such problem at all...
i ran Aion and did smooth transition from windowed to full screen with minimal load time...
and then i switch between iTunes and MSN with minimal lag...
in both windowed and full screened mode...
yummy...
in fact...
as i write now...
my character is sitting on a sandy beach getting bored in the background...
suave...
i am really excited about what Windows 7 can offer...
and i feel that my experience so far is just the tip of an ice-berg...
i wait in eager anticipations of the surprises ahead...
kudos Windows 7~!...
